Silicon carbide mineral is used for this abrasive because, while it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it tends to produce a brighter finish. It's commonly used for defect removal on clear coats, paint and plastics because it can effectively refine these surfaces without gouging or damaging the workpiece.

3M™ Trizact™ Finesse-it™ Film Disc 466LA is available in three grades: A3, A5 and A7. The discs are color-coded by grade to reduce the risk for error when there are multiple grades in a sequence.
