Product Description
Sharp Cut and Consistent Finish Required Featuring long-lasting 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain, 3M™ Stikit™ Cloth Roll 900DZ delivers where sharp cut and consistent finishes are paramount. Its open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasives of the same grade and is well-suited when loading is a problem. In combination with its flexible cloth backing, 900DZ delivers exceptional sanding performance on both contoured and flat surfaces. The extra-long life of this roll makes it an especially good value.
Dust and Swarf Neutralized An anti-static treatment is built into the abrasive coat that neutralizes the electrical charge generated by sanding, especially on wood. Electrically charged swarf tends to cling to the abrasive surface, the workpiece and the machinery when sanding. When used with an effective dust collection system, this helps provide outstanding dust control. The life of the abrasive is preserved, and the surface finish results are improved.
A Durable, Excellent Life The 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain is enhanced to increase hardness and toughness. The mineral resists fracturing which attributes to extended abrasive life, while still providing a consistent finish. It can be used on wood and ferrous metals in applications requiring heavy stock removal all the way to fine finishing. It handles extreme heat and pressure well.
It exceeds both aluminum oxide and silicon carbide mineral in cut-rate and durability. For tough sanding jobs, 3M™ Stikit™ Cloth Roll 900DZ is designed to enable operators to do more work in less time.
The Right Stuff This abrasive's resin bond is designed to resist the thermal and chemical deterioration that can occur during sanding. The anti-static property and open coat construction help prolong abrasive life, improve results and enhance productivity. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are less densely placed on the backing, providing space to evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris. This helps avoid loading the cutting edge of the grains so the abrasive mineral is able to continue cutting even when sanding materials that would otherwise clog the grain, hindering sanding ability.
About the Stikit Attachment System 3M™ Stikit™ abrasives come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backs – it presses on as simply as a sticker. Abrasives stay put even during aggressive sanding. They remove just as cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next sheet or disc.
Removing Cross-Grain Scratches from Wood for Final Sand The 3M™ Stikit™ Cloth Roll 900DZ is easily cut to size to fit power tools and pads – and commonly in the furniture and woodworking industry, an orbital platen sander. These machines use abrasive sheets in an oscillating pattern to sand or polish raw or finished wood products.
Cross-grain scratches left behind when sanding cabinetry, doors or face frames with a wide belt sander are typically removed. An orbital platen sander allows shops to reduce the amount of manual sanding typically done by operators with random orbital palm sanders.
Most orbital platen sanders use fine grade abrasives (usually grades of 150–220) to provide a smooth, consistent finish before heading to the staining or finishing operation. 900DZ is a durable product with excellent life and works nicely on these types of equipment.
